Creative and Cultural Participation Benefits Older Adults' Health and Wellbeing (#58)

Genevieve Dingle 1
  1. UQ Music, Dance & Health Research Group, University of Queensland, MOOROOKA, QLD, Australia

Genevieve's talk starts with data from the AgeUK wellbeing study showing that participation in creative and cultural activities was the top predictor of older adults' wellbeing. She then describes an example of a group singing program - Live Wires - that has been offered to Brisbane retirement village residents and hospitalised older adults. Results show a benefit to cognitive performance and social connectedness of participants - both prevalent issues in older adulthood.
