Wee Kheng Soo

Dr Kheng Soo is a geriatrician and medical oncologist at Eastern Health (Melbourne) and an adjunct lecturer at Monash University. He completed his medical degree at the University of Melbourne in 2003. He was awarded dual fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2012, Clinical Diploma in Palliative Medicine in 2012, Diploma in Geriatric Oncology in 2019, and PhD in Medicine in 2021. As a geriatrician, he routinely conducts comprehensive geriatric assessments across various clinical settings. This person-centred health assessment integrates the person’s health needs and physical and cognitive functioning with their goals and values. He believes that better health outcomes can be achieved using an evidence-based, interdisciplinary approach and working in partnership with the patient, family, caregivers, and health professionals. His research work looks at understanding and addressing the needs of older people with cancer, developing and evaluating effective interventions and integrated models of care, and embedding geriatric assessment into the clinical care of older cancer patients.
